Rippie Enters the American Classics 2000 Race Series

March 6th 2000

Doug Rippie MotorSports is pleased to announce that we will have one of our DRM C500/RSR's piloted by Steve Melnick competing in the Viper - Corvette challenge race series.  Now dubbed the American Classics 2000 Race Series hosted by the Viper Days organization and run by Skip Thomas.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to have our supercar compete on the race track in a professional race series and show off the capabilities of our "street legal", "drive to work everyday", "race car".

The series will most likely have some or all of its races televised on either the Fox Network or SpeedVision.  We will be competing in the eastern region only and would love the opportunity to find additional drivers for either the eastern or western regions.  Anyone interested in having DRM modify their car for this race series will be entitled to special support and discounts on preparing their car.  Please contact Peter or Doug at DRM for more information.

This race series completes our lineup of cars from full blown race cars to street legal cars that we are currently developing.  We have almost finished work on our GT3 race car destined for Switzerland and our World Challenge car driven by Scotty B. White.  Scotty was the first C-5 Corvette driver to win a World Challenge race in the 1999 season with Doug Rippies support.  This year Scotty will be back in a completely new car built from the ground up by Doug himself.  We are very hopeful for a successful 2000 season.   All of this race car research and development continues to keep Doug Rippie Motorsports at the top of C-5 street car development.

Finally, we would like to encourage all Corvette owners to consider participating in some or all of the race events.  The Series offers "drivers school lapping sessions" for those of you not interested in full racing.  For the racers, the series is a wheel to wheel race that follows "Vintage Race Rules" so you can go home with the car in the same condition that it arrived in.   Classes will be divided up from stock to unlimited (click here for the class matrix).  Lets show all the Vipers what the Corvette is really made of.
